The premise
You have just pulled off the score of your lives. The Orpheus Core is in the Aeternum’s hold, and the captain has promised to split the sale across the whole crew.
During the hyperspace jump the lights went out. Eleven seconds exactly. Then came the lurch, and the ship surfaced where it should not be: a graveyard of vessels orbiting a lightless star.
The jump regulator was opened and recalibrated by hand. Someone in this crew brought you here, and they are still aboard.
