Every player gets a different character

How it works

Three steps and you are in.

Nothing to print, nothing to read beforehand, and nobody has to run the story.

  1. Pick a story

The host chooses an experience based on how many of you there are, how long you have, and what you fancy.

    • Number of players
    • Length
    • Setting
  2. Everyone discovers their part

The others join with a PIN or a QR code. Each phone hands out a different character.

    • Character and background
    • Public and private information
    • Secrets, objectives and objects
  3. The story begins

You talk, negotiate, investigate and decide. Masqora handles everything else.

    • Runs the acts and the clock
    • Drops clues and consequences
    • Handles the vote and the ending

The experience

A session looks like this.

These are not features. They are the moments that happen around the table while the app keeps opening doors.

Find out who you are

Every player gets a different part, with their own version of the story.

Keep your secrets

You know things the others should never find out.

Negotiate

Trade, hide or reveal objects to get what you need.

Chase your own goals

Solving the mystery may matter. It is not necessarily the only thing you want.

Make decisions

Your choices can change what happens during the session.

Accuse

When the moment comes, the table has to decide who to believe.

The difference

Nothing to print. Nothing to prepare. Nobody has to run the story.

A downloadable murder mystery gives you a PDF and a problem: someone has to assemble it. Masqora removes that step entirely.

Traditional murder mystery

  • Buy and prepare material in advance
  • Print and hand out documents
  • Explain the rules to everyone
  • One person knows most of the story
  • Clues are introduced by hand
  • Someone keeps track of what happened

Masqora

  • Create the game from your phone
  • Share a PIN or a QR code
  • Characters assigned automatically
  • Private information for every player
  • Clues and objects that arrive on their own
  • Objectives, vote and ending resolved by the engine

Your phone is not the game

The phone carries the story. You carry the conversation.

Masqora is not asking you to spend the night staring at a screen. The phone hands out information, drops events and records the decisions that matter. Everything else happens around the table.

  1. 01Check your character
  2. 02Receive clues
  3. 03Handle objects
  4. 04Put the phone down
  5. 05Talk to everyone else

Everyone plays their own game

You do not all want the same thing.

Two people at the same table can be playing two different games without knowing it. Each character can have:

  • their own objectives
  • secrets
  • relationships
  • objects
  • exclusive information
  • personal decisions
  • different endings
Lord Cedric Ravenswood
Family patriarch
Lady Beatrice Ravenswood
Lady of the house
Isabella Ravenswood
The aunt who never left
Henry Ravenswood
The brother in debt
Dr. Jonathan Blackwood
Family physician
Inspector Harold Whitaker
Private investigator

Even if the group solves the mystery, you may have won or lost your own story.

Stories

Three experiences. One of them is free.

Every story brings its own cast, objects and rhythm. Start with Blackridge: it is short, it is complete, and it costs nothing.

Before you organise it

What everyone asks first.

If something here does not add up, better to know now than halfway through a dinner.

Do we need a Game Master?

No. One person acts as host to create and start the game, but they do not need to know the story, prepare materials or direct anyone. The host plays like everybody else.

Does everyone need an account?

No. Players can join as guests: they enter the PIN or scan the QR, type a name, and they are in. Only the person creating the game needs an account.

Do we have to stare at our phones the whole time?

No. The game is designed so the interaction happens between players. The app calls you, privately, when it has something for you. The rest of the time the phone can stay face down.

How long does a session take?

The available stories run roughly 25 to 40 minutes, depending on how many of you there are.

How many people can play?

Today there are experiences for groups of 3 to 12 players. Each story states its range and the group size it works best with.

Is there a free story?

Yes. The Last Train to Blackridge is free, and it is a complete story rather than a cut-down demo. It is the best way to find out whether Masqora suits your group.

What do we need to play?

One phone per player, an internet connection, and to be in the same place together. That is it: no printer, no cards, no preparation.

Can a story be replayed?

You can play again as a different character, but knowing the solution takes away much of the point. We would rather say so plainly than sell replayability that is not there yet.

What languages are the stories in?

The Last Train to Blackridge is available in Spanish and English. Drift of the Dead Star and The Ravenswood Banquet are Spanish only for now. Each story page states its language.

Start tonight

There are several of you. You already have everything you need.

Blackridge runs half an hour, works with three or four people, and costs nothing. If it lands with your group, the rest of the catalogue is waiting.

The Last Train to Blackridge · Masqora is in early access. What you see on this site is what you can already play.
